Luise wants to live with mom

July 8, 1911

Exclusive dispatch to the Los Angeles Times.

King Friedrich August of Saxony has "applied for permission" for his former wife, Luise, who eloped with his son's tutor "some ten years ago," to spend the remainder of her days in penitence with her mother, the Dowager Grand Duchess of Tuscany."

Friedrich August was the Crown Prince when his wife ran off with the tutor.  She was forced to give up her Saxon and Austrian titles (she was born an Archduchess of Austria and a Princess of Tuscany), and assume the title Countess of Montignoso.    The marriage was eventually dissolved by divorce, and the former Crown Princess Luise married an Italian singer named Toselli.   They are now said to be estranged, and the Countess is reported to be seeking a divorce.

As she has nowhere else to go,  Luise "wishes to live with her mother," who resides in Lindau, Bavaria.  But Luise needs the permission of the Bavarian regent, and "that would only be granted on the application of the King of Saxony."
