Palace confirms separate hotel rooms for Albert and Charlene

Palace officials in Monaco have confirmed that Prince Albert and Princess Charlene did spend several nights apart during their honeymoon.   The Prince of Monaco checked into the Hilton in Durban and the Princess was staying at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga Rocks, ten miles away.  According to a palace spokesman: "The Prince was in a meeting at the Hilton with members of the International Olympic Committee from July 5 to July 9.  For practical reasons, it was better to sleep there."

Charlene's rather, Michael, who is a photocopy salesman, told a reporter that Albert wanted to avoid "traffic congestion."    Ummm .. Albert is a head of state.  Durban police officials probably could have arranged for a police escort for the ten mile journey.

The palace official made it clear that the Prince and Princess have not returned to Monaco, as originally reported "but in fact they are still traveling in South Africa."
