THE PRINCE OF WALES AND THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL ARRIVE IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Base, Washington D.C.

On arrival Their Royal Highnesses (TRH) will be greeted by Her Majesty’s

Ambassador to the United States of America, Sir Peter Westmacott and Lady Westmacott.

 

Background

The Prince of Wales has visited the United States of America in an official capacity 19 times since 1970 (21 including private trips). This will be his 20th official visit. The Prince of Wales's last visit to the USA was in May 2011 when his programme included a call on President Obama at the White House and giving the keynote speech at a conference on sustainable agriculture at the Future for Food Conference at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. The Duchess of Cornwall has visited the USA officially twice with The Prince Of Wales (2005 and 2007). Their Royal Highnesses' visit to the USA in 2005 was their first official overseas tour conducted jointly as The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. 

 

Since The Prince's first visit to the USA in 1970, where he stayed at the White House with The Princess Royal as a guest of President Nixon, The Prince has met five living US Presidents at the White House. The Prince met President Obama at the White House in May 2011.

Ambassador's residence for the media and British Embassy staff.

 

Format

Their Royal Highnesses will meet British Embassy staff and senior members of the U.S. press, including columnists and bureau chiefs, and members of the U.K. media.
