A Bavarian tiara

all three images are from the Marlene A. Eilers Koenig collection

The first image shows Queen Maria Theresa of Bavaria (1849-1919), the consort of King Ludwig III, the last king of Bavaria.   An archduchess of Austria, by birth, Queen Maria Theresa gave birth to thirteen children.

Her eldest son, Prince Rupprecht (1869-1955) married twice.  His first marriage took place in 1900 to Duchess Marie Gabrielle in Bavaria (1878-1912).   She died from renal failure.  Only one of her children, Prince Albrecht, survived to adulthood.   Prince Rupprecht became Crown Prince of Bavaria in 1913, when his father, Ludwig became king.

Princess Alfons of Bavaria was born Princess Louise of Orléans (1869-1952).  She married Prince Alfons in 1891.  They were the parents of two children, Prince Josef Clemens and Princess Elisabeth.

Several readers have told me that these are three different tiaras.
